Since Mike left me (for the weekend…), I’ve been going a little crazy with getting projects done around the house. The dogs have also been going a little crazy, and I was able to snap this photo of the couch dog on the floor, and the floor dog on the couch:
I started today’s festivities by mowing the lawn, then I removed all the junk from the front closet and began lining it with coats. I even put down a door mat so that dirty shoes can be safely stored (Note from Laura: that doormat was my first purchase for my very own studio apartment in Manhattan two years ago. I bought it online from the Crate and Barrel Outlet for $13):
Then I spray painted Mike’s shelf-thingy from Bed Bath & Beyond. He had it hung on the wall by the door to grab his wallet and keys when he comes home.
I wanted to jazz the 4 main cubes up in yellow, which took 3 coats of Valspar Paint + Primer in Satin Hubbell House Golden Maize. The larger rectangle in the back took 2 coats of Rustoleum’s Paint Plus in Gloss Winter Gray. Towards the end, it looked like this:
I used the same gray spray paint on a set of three cheap-o metal wall art I must have bought about 5 years ago (probably at Bed Bath & Beyond, since that was the only store I knew existed when I first moved to NYC in 2008):
And then I worked on my secret present for Mike: his very own wheatgrass plant for juicing. Since the project is not fully done, I’m only going to throw this picture at you until I can get the seeds potted tomorrow:
And of course, I spent close to 8 full hours painting the living/dining room, entry area, and stairs. It ended up taking 2 final coats today, but it is now completely done. Unfortunately, I’m going to make you wait until tomorrow for that reveal. But here is a little preview:
So check back tomorrow for more details regarding the living/dining room, and for the hanging of the art work!
