Our Family

Born and raised in New England, Laura is a recent transplant to the mid-west area, where she is working on her Master’s in Higher Education Administration at The University of Akron.  She is so Type A that any GPA below 4.0 could possibly kill her.  One day, she woke up and realized she needed some love in her life.  So she headed to her local animal shelter.

Phoebe met Laura at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter on August 24, 2012.  It was love at first site for both of them.  Phoebe was a Cleveland rescue, and she is 8-pounds of pure sweetness.   Together, Phoebe and Laura conquered design challenges in their one-bedroom apartment, and waited patiently for Mike to find them.

Born and raised just outside of Detroit, Mike struggled with the interior design skills of a bachelor.  Instead, he poured his energy into something he was good at: loving and training his adorable puppy, Gus, who came into his life on June 2, 2012.  The boys found Laura and Phoebe on November 6, 2012, and they became one extremely happy family.  So sweet, in fact, that they have been known to cause diabetes.

Having lived in teeny tiny dorm rooms and apartments in Boston, London, and New York City, Laura knows a thing or two about dealing with temporary spaces.  She loves every DIY project she takes on.  Mike wasn’t convinced at first, but after acquiring a bunch of new tools, and he’s now bold enough to tackle any design challenge Laura throws his way.  Phoebe and Gus are less enthusiastic about their parents’ projects, but they support them all the same.  And they especially support being bribed with long hikes and organic cookies.
